Supplies

  • Scalpels either for whole class or just for Director and assistants. The number depends on whether or not the host school wants the classes to handle them or not.
  • Gloves can be latex or plastic. Some people may be allergic to latex so plastic may be a safer option.
  • Probes will be needed for the whole class in order to properly identify a coronary artery and other various anatomical parts.
  • Dissection Trays are needed for the dissection itself and will be provided by Lincoln if they are not available at the host school.
  • Surgical Scissors are used to make cuts through the atrioventricular septum.
  • Diagrams and written instructions provided by the Director.
  • And of course, the pig hearts in enough quantity to benefit the classroom; perhaps two people to one heart or each person to their own.
